His eyes and his smile and his hubris are so chillingly perfect. What little kid doesn’t go through a “Kaiser phase” where they abuse small, helpless creatures that are deemed “inferior?”). He is a kid’s wish-fulfillment fantasy gone horribly wrong (and also, pretty real. Ken was very fortunate that his parents came to their own realization that something had gone very wrong, and put an end to it even at his early age of eleven (and, to be fair, the thing that served as their wake-up call really was quite the drastic thing). If your kid is showing so much promise and potential, it's a parent's duty to foster that potential and allow them to reach greater heights!.but regardless of good intentions, mistakes are still mistakes, and in the end both Osamu and Ken ended up crumbling under the pressure to live up to the expectations placed on them. To his parents' credit, the two of them were much better about handling this than a lot of others would be in their situation - even in the early episodes, there are signs of Ken's mother catching onto the fact something's going wrong with his emotional state, and the unfortunate thing about this whole affair is that this kind of pressure can happen even from well-meaning intentions. In contrast, Ken was indeed the victim of a lot of pressure surrounding him and Osamu.
